Zimmer: Peterson Can Play For Vikings Or Not At All

May 28, 2015 12:03 PM

The Minnesota Vikings are losing patience with Adrian Peterson, but they're not changing their position on his future with the team.

“Adrian has two choices: He can either play for us or he cannot play. He’s not going to play for anybody else,” said Mike Zimmer.

Peterson has sought a trade from the Vikings because he felt a lack of support from the franchise during his child abuse suspension.

The Vikings have been adamant they intend to keep Peterson.

Cowboys Willing To Consider Trading 2016 First Rounder

May 8, 2015 7:41 PM

The Dallas Cowboys would consider trading away their 2016 first round pick to acquire a game-changing running back or a blue-chip defensive talent.

"I'd be reluctant to, but certainly if the right situation came along that could improve us now, with where we are with (35-year-old quarterback) Tony Romo, his career and where we are with what we've put together, it's a good time to go for it," Jerry Jones said, per Fox Sports Southwest.

The Cowboys had appeared to be uninterested in trading for Adrian Peterson, but those comments could open the door.

The Cowboys essentially acquired an additional first round pick in signing La'el Collins.

Brandon Marshall Was Nearly Traded To Patriots In 2014

May 8, 2015 6:01 PM

Brandon Marshall was nearly traded to the New England Patriots last offseason before he signed a three-year, $30 million extension with the Chicago Bears.

Marshall was traded to the New York Jets this offseason.

"I could have played for the Patriots last year," Marshall told ESPN 1000 on Friday (via the Chicago Sun-Times). "There was an opportunity where there probably could have (been) a trade before the season."

Tom Brady sometimes lacked receiving options, but they still managed to win the Super Bowl.

"It was my agent and the Chicago Bears because there was a little tension on the contract stuff," Marshall said. "I thought I was worth a little more. ... There were a couple of teams that were offering more money.

"It never got that far, but there was a possibility with a couple teams."

Michael Bennett Wants Raise From Seahawks, Not Trade

May 8, 2015 8:58 PM

Michael Bennett doesn't want to be traded by the Seattle Seahawks, but he is seeking a raise.

"I think everyone who has a job, they want a raise for whatever they're doing," Bennett said Thursday on KING-TV, via ESPN. "I'm just like any other American. I think everybody wants to be paid a little bit more. So I don't think I fall short of that."

He added: "People assume when you ask for a little more money, they assume that you want to be traded or something like that. But that's not what I'm trying to go for."

Bennett is entered the second year of a four-year, $32 million contract with $16 million guaranteed.

Bennett is 29 and has been one of the NFL's most productive defensive ends since joining the Seahawks.

Jets Trade For Zac Stacy

May 4, 2015 12:36 PM

The St. Louis Rams have traded Zac Stacy to the New York Jets for a seventh round pick.

Stacy became expendable when the Rams drafted Todd Gurley 10th overall.

Stacy expressed his surprise to the Rams' selection of Gurley on Twitter, responding, "Yikes." He quickly deleted the tweet.

The Jets went into the draft looking for a running back, hoping to add competition to a growing backfield. Stacy will join Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Stevan Ridley and Daryl Richardson.

Philip Rivers Denies Asking For Trade From Chargers

May 1, 2015 10:19 PM

Philip Rivers denied ever asking the San Diego Chargers or a trade.

There were rumors for weeks that the Chargers could trade Rivers to the Tennessee Titans.

"I think deep down in my gut I didn't think I would be gone," Rivers told San Diego-area radio station The Mighty 1090 AM. "But you just never know. I don't think you ever know. There was certainly enough smoke out there to linger a little bit to make you see if there was a fire. But I never felt like, 'Oh my gosh, this is happening.'"

Rivers had been virtually assured by the front office he wouldn't be dealt.

"I took them for their word, which was what it was -- nothing was going on," Rivers said. "But at the same time, are you really going to tell a player a month out, 'Hey, we're trying to trade you.' You know what I mean? So what I'm saying is you never really know, although I'm certainly a guy who wants to believe the truth in every way, and that's what it was."

Zac Stacy Seeks Trade From Rams

May 1, 2015 12:32 PM

With the St. Louis Rams selecting Todd Gurley at running back with the 10th overall pick, the future of Zac Stacy remains uncertain.

ESPN reported that Stacy is seeking a trade following the Rams' selection of Gurley.

The Rams will meet with Stacy's representatives on Friday.

Stacy was one of the pleasant surprises of the 2013 season, rushing for 973 yards in just 13 games. But he fell behind both Tre Mason and Benny Cunningham on the depth chart last year, carrying only 76 times for 293 yards.
